Fertilizing is an important part of maintaining a healthy and beautiful lawn. Your lawn will be greener and thicker because of it. A thicker lawn provides extra protection from weed growth. Fertilizing also strengthens grass roots and helps the roots absorb more water, which makes your lawn a healthy green. Scotts provides a 4 step program for fertilizing your lawn four times a year.

The first step, Scotts Turf Builder Crabgrass Preventer, is applied at the beginning of spring. This helps prevent crabgrass, a fast-growing weed, from thriving and provides crabgrass protection for the entire season.
The second step, Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed, is applied later in spring. This fertilizer thickens your lawn to prevent weeds and restricts dandelion and clover growth.

The third step is applied in the summer. Scotts Turf Builder Summerguard Lawn, enhances your lawn’s ability to absorb water and other nutrients, which is especially important against the summer heat and drought. This fertilizer also kills many lawn pests.
The fourth step, Scotts Turf Builder Winterguard Fall Lawn Food, is applied in the fall. This produces strong and deep grass roots, leading to a better lawn the following spring. Additionally, this fertilizer repairs damage caused by the summer heat.
