How do I water my lawn? How much water does my lawn need during a drought? Do I need to water after fertilizing? These are just some of the questions you may have about watering your lawn. This article is where you can find the answers to many of your watering questions.
How Much Water Does My Lawn Need?
Your lawn needs 1-2 inches of water every week. When it does not rain, you should water your lawn to keep it healthy. You can set up a sprinkler for about 40 minutes once or twice a week, depending on how dry your grass is. You want to make sure that the sprinkler reaches all parts of your lawn.

How Should I Water During A Drought?

As stated in the previous question, your lawn needs 1-2 inches of water. Use a sprinkler to water your lawn when receiving little or no rain. If you start seeing brown spots in your grass, that is a sign that you need to water your lawn. Check out our other article “What To Do In A Drought” to learn more.
Should I Water After Fertilizing?
Watering depends on the type of fertilizer you use. Some fertilizers need water right after applying it and others need to be applied a few days before watering. Before you fertilize, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The instructions will tell you how to properly use that fertilizer. If someone is applying fertilizer to your lawn, they should instruct you on how to water your lawn afterwards.
